Man in hospital after being shot, hiding in Harrison Twp. cornfield

A man was taken to the hospital after he was shot in the leg in Harrison Twp. Wednesday afternoon and took cover in a nearby cornfield.

A release the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said that he took gunshot wounds to the leg but that his injuries were not life-threatening.

The man was shot by a person in an unknown vehicle while on Bon Air Drive around 12:59 p.m. According to the release, he then ran to a cornfield on Philadelphia Drive, which is where he was found by deputies and medics.

In a 911 call, the man said that he did not know who shot him. During the call, a siren is heard, but emergency crews seemed to have difficulty finding the victim until crews and the victim called out to each other.

The release confirmed that deputies found the victim after dispatchers asked him to call out.

A car in the 300 block of Bon Air Drive was also shot during the incident and had multiple bullet holes.

Initial reports indicated that a white box truck was involved in the incident, but was later determined to not be connected.

The sheriff’s office said that this shooting remains under investigation.
